Offer's to be part of TwtrSymphony went out
53 offers to musicians from around the world were sent out tonight in preparation for announcing the list of musicians tomorrow!   The competition was extremely stiff, and the choices were difficult!   Nearly half (50) did not make the selection for one reason or another.  So, to those who have been chosen, congratulations. To those who have not, we will undoubtedly have more of these auditions as...

Flown the Coop →
The link is an audio file. Flown the Coop is a Proof of Concept piece, showing what we can do with musicians playing music in remote sessions.  It is just a string orchestra, but it does show our potential.  Our Debut track will be the full orchestra! A link was provided rather than uploading the music to Tumblr because the music belongs to TwtrSymphony and we don’t necessarily want to...

More and More auditions, listening and more...
Over the past week I have listened to over 100 different musicians, many submitting more than one recording.  Each recording is placed into a master file with all the other recordings by the same instrument and matched up with the original click track.   Some of the recordings are extremely accurate and require no real adjustment other than making sure the first note lines up.  Other recordings...

A Bit About the Composer Chip Michael
Hello, ChipMichael here.  I am the composer and Music Director for TwtrSymphony.  You can read/listen to more of my music on my website: chipmichael.com or my blog www.interchangingidioms.blogspot.com Much of the reason I got involved in this project is due to the prodding of my Twitter Friends, SensibleFlutist, EricaSipes and Hickey_Kim.  You see, I’d been looking for an orchestra to...

Why I Joined TwtrSymphony Alexis Del Palazzo
[[MORE]]by Alexis Del Palazzo I innocently tweeted, “YouTube can have a symphony, why can’t we?” to Chip Michael, Erica Sipes and Kim Hickey and away it went. I woke up the next morning having been followed by @twtrsymphony. I’m currently in the middle of another twitter inspired project. I will be giving the world premiere of Peter Amsel’s piece for solo flute, Museum Triptych, on March 31 in...

Why I Joined TwtrSymphony
by Kim Hickey A couple of weeks ago there was a lot of talk on twitter about a “piano concerto in search of an orchestra”. I had recently been trying to start up a Twitter-based flute ensemble so the seed of an internet-based group had already been planted in my mind. A fellow flutist/Twitter friend, Alexis Del Palazzo, along with pianist Erica Sipes and I suggested the idea of an...

We have to exist --the urge to collaborate was too...
Musicians love to play. If there is one unifying force among musicians, this is it. The urge to play is so strong, that when we gather in groups to chat it invariably turns to discussions of wanting to play together. THIS is TwtrStmphony, a collection of musicians who have been chatting on Twitter and just couldn’t resist the urge to play together any more.
